Job Posting Special Projects Programmer – IT Section Under the supervision of the Assistant-Director – Information Technology section, the Special Projects Programmer is responsible for, without being limited to, the following responsibilities: RESPONSABILITIES: The Special Project Engineer’s major responsibility is to develop, test, implement and support KRG’s custom built software and systems. In addition, the Special Projects Programmer will also assume project management responsibility for certain software systems implementation. TASKS: Design and produce code for projects specific software such as KRG’s weathercam or water plant telemetry software; Produce and keep up to date documentation of source code and systems configurations as it pertains to KRG specific software and systems; Lead the testing and implementation of KRG developed applications and systems; Assume responsibility of project management for project specific software and systems implementations such as KRG’s weathercams, water plant telemetry, network telemetry and other integration projects; Coordinate resources within KRG or from outside contractors as it related to specific projects; Provide support and documentation such as user manuals to IT technicians and users for special projects; Develop a training curriculum and give training sessions to technical staff and users for KRG specific software; Advise the Assistant-director on project related matters; And any other tasks as requested by the Assistant-Director. QUALIFICATIONS: University level diploma in computer technology 3 years professional experience as a software developer or software engineer Project Management experience or aptitude will be a strong asset Experience with training and documentation an asset TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience developing object oriented software Experience developing in Python, PHP, HTML, SQL Experience with software architecture of three tier web application model Experience with Campbell Scientific telemetry and data logging equipment Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals Knowledge of Windows environment, especially as it pertains to software development Experience with Apache, MySQL, IIS, MS-SQL Knowledge of SOAP, XML, XSLT, Javascript and Java an asset PERSONAL QUALITIES / ABILITIES: Strong analytical capacity. Resourceful when troubleshooting. Project Management skills Ability to transfer his/her knowledge to others. Strong focus on customer service oriented personality.
